My name is Sinéad and I am from Edmonton, Canada. I am a PhD student here in the Department of Psychiatry, at the University of Edinburgh’s College of Medicine.
I love language and I am really interested in how people learn to communicate with the world around them. For my PhD project I am focusing on how mothers communicate with their infants through the use of words and gesture.
Outside of my life as a PhD candidate, I like to sit under an assortment of blankets and read the dictionary. I’m also co-editor of two blogs; one about my life in Edinburgh with my husband, and one with Billie all about our PhD experiences.
